Because Green is My Favorite Color

14 Jul

I’ve been meaning to do this for ages, and only just felt like procrastinating enough to get around to it today. Last year I had a story printed in Volume I of Jonathan J. Schlosser’s Candlelight. With the print of Volume II the rights reverted to me, and rather than re-work and resubmit it, I thought I’d throw it up here on the site as a little extra content and proof that on rare occasion I do produce short fiction.

So now on some rainy day where you have nothing better to do, you can read the pulpiest thing I’ve ever written right here:

Lime Green Closet

It’s near and dear to my heart because I actually lived in this house, in this neighborhood in Cleveland, when I was in college. And we really had this closet (complete with the paint and cane). But how much of it is true, well, I’ll leave it up to you.

Mmm, pulp.

I could never find the website for Candlelight after I ordered the first volume. “Candlelight” is too vague a search term!

Oooh yeah, good point. It’s going through a redesign, but once it’s back up you can find the info here:

Dude, I just ordered the book. Just to spite you, I’m going to refrain from following the link and read it when the book lands on my doorstep. I hope you feel the BURN.

…nah, you know it’s all good.

Fredericks, d’oh! Er, man, I suck. But the good news is that the other stories in it are way better than mine :D

Aaron, damn straight. Reprazent! *high five*

Shit, that’s creepy and gruesome. Great pacing, too. Nice work, Katey.

I started reading this and realized oh, hey, I’m supposed to be working. I’ll finish it at lunch. I’m about 30% through right now and really like it so far.

Haha, far be it from me to tell anyone when the best time to read would be, Nat. That made me giggle.

Cate, it’s just a little bit of pulp. I should do more pulp though, since it makes me happy.

Thanks, Mike! I feel like I’ve done justice to the closet, then. God that thing was creepy.

Sure thing, Alan. Hopefully it’ll provide some amusement.

Barry, story of my life, man. I do that about twice a day. I feel you. :D

Very creepy. I think I’ll leave my jacket on the end of the stairs and give the closet a miss tonight.
