WIP Time Again

15 Jul

Gee, I sure am chatty this week. Well, that’ll change, as I have more company coming this weekend. Yay! Harry Potter Weekend!

So for two days of work this past week, this isn’t too bad. It was all the same character, and mostly the development of the major love story– if we can even call it that– in this thing. Or one of them. Anyhow, no corpses for now. More later. As of this moment, this is the state of The Resurrectionists:

19148 / 80000 words. 24% done!

Huh. That’s almost 1/4. Forgot how disorienting writing things out of order could be. I like it! Well here we are then, with more from Team Idiot, this time discussing Tom’s romantic intentions toward Paul’s sister, and whether or not her affections are elsewhere engaged:

“He’s too clever. And too handsome by half.”

Paul paused. “True. But I don’t think Becca cares for a man’s looks.”

This time, Tommy laughed. “Paul, you poor thing, all women care for a man’s looks. They care for blue eyes.”

Paul squinted and leaned toward him. “What color are yours?”

“Gray.”

His face lit up as if he’d heard a most excellent joke. “Pity, that. Still, it’s not such a setback.”

Tom found himself grinning in reply. “Are you making fun?”

“I am, Tommy. But I wish you luck. You’ll need it.”

No, Tom is not possessed of deep insight into the feminine soul. But, like idiots the world over, he really thinks he is. That’s scarier than any zombie.

Haha, song playing is appropriate!

Man, you write some spot on dialoge. I can picture these dudes without descriptions. Rock on.

Chatty, indeed. Making up for my lack of posts this week…Aaron’s right, great dialogue Katey.

All women care for a man’s blue eyes? Man, how come they weren’t knocking down my door all those years ago…

    Blue eyes?? As if.

Stop teasing us. Tell me I’m on your list of beta readers.

Count me in with the dialogue lovers. Great stuff. I should take notes!

Aaron, that’s a huge relief to hear, so thank you. Dialogue has always been (one of the largest of) my (many) weak spot(s), so I’ve worked really hard to try and get better.

Just goes to show I should’ve been writing historicals all along, huh?

Thanks, Alan, very sweet of ya. I’ll bet they were knocking your door down– you’re just being modest!

Nat, you know I’m with you, girl. (Not JUST because of Balaji, though that helps. I have blue eyes. Boring!)

Cate, I would be so, so grateful if you would be!

Thanks, Cory, that means a lot! You know how crap I can be with it sometimes, but I feel weirdly okay with the stuff for this book.

Yep. Should probably always do historical.

    Nah!

Not joking…I am sketching out an idea for a short story called Team Idiot…eerie, huh?

Yes, yes it is. What’s up with the zeitgeist…?

A quarter of the way through, already? Nice! Gotta love those milestones.

As for Bodysnatchers, that’s a great song from a great album.

Every time I listen to In Rainbows I am amazed all over again.

    Yay for milestones!
