WiP Wednesday, Family Style
3 Mar
Things go a bit more slowly on Plaguebringer this week– rather than finishing off a thread I’ve picked up the new one, which is always a little less furious. Different points of view and different setting, plus an extra plot that looks like a sideline but ends up slamming into the end pretty hard. So fun stuff, really!
Today I give you Ciprian daCorteva, a bored, perpetually ironic mathematical genius. Always a dangerous thing. Here he’s forced into the (supposedly) insipid company of his mother and sister for a few minutes.
Dandling her latest brat in her arms, Amayah said, “Little ‘Vina here is just like her Uncle Ciprian. You should see her with the block set you used to love– the one with the triangles and squares.”
The shapeless lump of flesh on her lap burbled and drooled.
“Obviously a prodigy,” Ciprian said.
Anyhow, he’s one of the PoVs I’m messing with now, so that’s been fun. I really hope everyone else is having as much fun as I am with their own WiPs. This one has been so hard to get straight that I haven’t had time to hate on it as much as I usually would. There’s a lot to be said for keeping busy, isn’t there?
I’m at about 73k in the continuous MS just now. Could be worse. About to get better. Fingers crossed!

Yeah, it’s official. I love this dude.
And I’m so madly curious about this book it’s not even funny, dude.
Ciprian reveals something of a cynical nature in the one line of dialogue you give us. I’m liking him as well.
Great verbage with “burbled and drooled”. Just like one of those little formless lumps to burble and drool.
And Cory, thanks to you I am no longer afraid to write him
Alan, yeah, he’s a little ray of sunshine. Thanks!
Aaron, I know, right? What’s up with all the burbling? (Actually I love the little creatures. Sadly, I couldn’t make Ciprian see their merits. :/)
Of course, one must realize that all babies have cooties.
Hey Katey, I saw this and thought of you. You’ve probably already seen it. I love it.

You have a deliciously dark way with words.
73k!!! I bow down to your awesomeness.
“The shapeless lump of flesh on her lap burbled and drooled.” Ha! I love him already.
Nat, that’s what he’s thinking. If you can’t write out geometric proofs, what good are you?
Mike… that is… AWESOME. Wow. That just made my week. They hit EVERYTHING!
Danielle, I sometimes feel like I can’t take credit. Depends on how much of a bastard I’m trying to write!
Cate, Ciprian is glad at least SOMEONE appreciates genius. <3
