Izzy Fenwick, cynic and music store clerk, grew up with a specialized telepathy; she can affect the emotional states of the people around her through music. Though she never met anyone else who could do it, she’d always expected she’d run into one some day. There had to be more, right?

Right, so she discovers– except that the Society of Guides is beyond anything she expected, from the variety of telepathic powers (one for each of the five senses) to their zealous mission to “improve humanity through art”. Not to mention their conviction that they’re not human, but angelic– and committed to keeping all telepaths under their thumb and in their employ.

No sooner does she make this discovery than she’s swept into a dangerous rock ‘n’ roll “covert ops” mission with Kay Healy, a guy with Visual powers, and Beck Belmont, a snarky Tactile. That’s where her life gets really strange.
